MEET JESSE ARGENZIANO, HACKETTSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL DIRECTOR OF BANDS

    Jesse Argenziano is a graduate of the Roxbury High School music program in Succasunna , NJ .  He attended James Madison University (’04) where he received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a concentration in flute performance.  His flute teachers include Mary Ann Archer (Metropolitan Opera) and Beth Chandler (JMU).  He also studied composition at James Madison with Dr. John Stanley Hilliard and Dr. Jason Haney.

    Jesse began teaching at Mainland Regional High School in 2005 and, with a very successful staff and group of students, won the USSBA Group II NJ State Championships in 2005 and 2006.  The wind ensemble was also nominated as a State Gala Honor Band.  Following his stay at MRHS, Jesse returned to North Jersey and taught grade 4-8 music at Horace Mann School #9 in North Bergen .

    A flutist, clarinetist, and saxophonist, Jesse is also an accomplished composer.  Writing compositions for various mediums, his wind ensemble titled, ESCAPE, was a finalist in Virginia ’s “Symposium 31: For New Band Music”, and was premiered at Virginia Tech University in February 2006.  Continuing daily study in composition, Jesse hopes to become an accomplished composer.  A few of his other works include, Short Romance for Piano, Daybreak for Wind Ensemble, Chaconne for Flute and Vibraphone, Summer’s Breeze for Clarinet, Horn, and Piano, and Shattered Dreams for String Orchestra.  Future plans include graduate school and a Masters degree in Composition/Theory.  More to come!

    As a performer, Jesse plays with the Ridgewood Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Chris Wilhjelm, one of the top concert bands on the East Coast today.  He also performs professionally with a Doo-Wop group called “Charisma” around the NYC area.  He has previously performed with the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble under the direction of Keith Hodgson.
