The MICHAEL BILLINGTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP was founded in 2007 following the death of former band member, Michael Billington, who passed away following a battle with cancer. The HHS Marching Band and instrumental program played an important role in Michael's life while at HHS, and he went on to play in the pep band while a student at Seton Hall.
But while Michael may be gone in life, his excitement for life and his love of music will not be forgotten at HHS. To honor his memory, the HHS Band Boosters voted unanimously at their April 2007 meeting to establish the Michael Billington Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be given yearly to a HHS Senior Band member who has shown leadership skills and a genuine concern for their fellow band members, and the scholarship recipient will be selected by the band director and the Band Booster officers.
