2008-09 BAND BOOSTER MEETING AGENDAS AND MINUTES (WORD Format)

MEETING AGENDAS:  SEPT.

MEETING MINUTES:  SEPT.

WHO ARE THE BAND BOOSTERS?

The Hackettstown High School Band Boosters Association, Inc., is a non-profit, parent organization, which supports the efforts of the instrumental music students in the high school performing arts department.  While support is provided to each band within the program, the marching band receives the primary parent involvement.  This is because each performance and each performance season requires a great deal of adult assistance, much more than the other bands, from transportation of the heavy instruments to and from football games and competitions to providing the hospitality table for visiting bands at HHS home games.

WHO CAN JOIN BAND BOOSTERS?

If your child is a participant of any band within the HHS instrumental music department (Stage, Jazz, Marching, Pep Bands or Winter Guard/Percussion), then CONGRATULATIONS.  You are already a member of band boosters!

WHEN DO THE BAND BOOSTERS MEET?

The HHS Band Boosters Association meets on the second Tuesday of each month throughout the school year, September through June, at 7:00 pm in the high school band room and as needed during the summer in preparation for the fall marching band season.

ABOUT BAND BOOSTERS

Whether a home game halftime show, an away pre-game show, a competition or parade, or a winter or spring concert, every show our bands, our children, perform, is an important one.  Attending football games, both home and away, attending competitions, and attending their concerts where we can cheer them on is very important!

Depending on the band, you will see their show numerous times throughout the year.  It is truly amazing to watch as they perfect it, and they deserve our support throughout the season.

Of course not everyone can be at every performance, but you are encouraged to make every effort to attend whenever possible. THEY WORK VERY HARD AND THEY DESERVE OUR TOTAL SUPPORT!

All parents are invited and encouraged to actively participate in our band parents association.  Our goal is to have every student’s family involved with their music experience, this way you can learn with them.  There are opportunities to work as chaperones, equipment helpers, fundraising, seamstresses, and anything you feel could benefit the organization.  You are encouraged to speak with Susan Santamaria, the band booster president, about boosters.

The boosters needs parent volunteers to fill the following jobs throughout the band year.  Email us at  hhstigerbands@verizon.net  if you can help fill any of these positions.  We appreciate your help!

Dinner Coordinator:  Dinner is provided to MB members at a nominal charge following short practices  prior to football games and competitions during the fall.  A parent is needed to coordinate, and multiple pparents are needed to assist, in preparing, passing out, and collecting order forms, placing orders with local establishments, then picking-up and delivering the meals to the kids at the stadium following practice on game nights and before leaving for competitions.  Dinner order forms are passed out weekly after practice on Mondays, sent out via email, and posted on the website, then are returned at practice on Wednesday in order for orders to be placed on time.

Fundraising Coordinator: A parent is needed to assist and work with the Vice President and the band director to coordinate and arrange band and booster fundraisers.

Hospitality Table:  A parent is needed to coordinate, and multiple parents are needed to help prepare donated baked goods, cider, water, hot chocolate, etc. to be served to visiting bands following halftime at all HHS home football games.

Publicity Coordinator - A parent is needed to work with the President and the Vice President, to ensure that publicity for Band and Booster activities is released to area newspapers, radio stations, etc. in a timely manner.

Scholarship Coordinator - This parent will ensure that scholarship packets are mailed to all senior band members, collect the packets as they are returned, arrange for one freshman parent and two non-band adults to read essays and interview finalist's, and  coordinate the selection of the final scholarship winners.  * NOTE * This is a March-June position.

Tiger Gram Sales-One parent is needed to coordinate, and numerous parents are needed to sell Tiger Grams at all home games (2 or 3 for each game).  This can be a lucrative effort for a few outgoing people to do.

Uniform Help-A couple of parents are needed to coordinate handing out uniforms upon return from band camp then checkin them in and collecting them following the last marching band event.  In addition, several sewing enthusiasts are also needed to make minor sewing repairs on marching band and stage band uniforms as needed throughout the year.

U Haul Drivers- One or more drivers are needed to pick up a rental truck, drive it to the band room to be loaded, drive it to away games and competitions, then return it to the rental facility. Pick-up of the truck by 4pm on Fridays for away games and competitions, and return on Saturday or Sunday following its use will be required.

Flower Sales - Parents are needed to sell flowers at the various stage bands concerts throughout the year.
