PHONERAISER CELL PHONE AND INK-JET CARTRIDGE FUNDRAISER!

We're STILL collecting those used cell phones and ink-jet cartridges! Bring them to a marching band practice, drop them in the appropriate box in the band room or at NYKON'S STORE in Great Meadows or Harper's Bagel and Bake Shop at 265 Main Street or Young Nails at 207 Mountain Avenue (both in downtown Hackettstown), or EZ Cleaners at 245 Parcipany Road for those of you who work in the Parcipany NJ area, and be sure to tell all of those folks Thank You for supporting the bands! ABOUT OUR FUNDRAISING

In an effort to provide parents and band members every opportunity possible to meet their obligations for band camp, band trips, etc., through fundraising, AND support the band at the same time, the boosters work hard throughout the year to provide a number of opportunities to raise money. Please familiarize yourself with the currently running campaigns, which will always be listed near the top of this page, then check back regularly for new information. Fundraising opportunities, important dates,
notices, etc., are always highlighted on the home page. Band members are also given ample information during band when possible to bring home, so ask them frequently if they have been given information, and encourage them to sell when appropriate!

Please be as active as you possibly can to help the band raise what it needs as the year goes by. Band enriches your child's education tremendously and is worth every penny, every minute, and then some!

Band and Band Booster fundraising generally falls into three categories: 1) Program Support, 2) Scholarships, and 3) Band Member Accounts.

PROGRAM SUPPORT AND SCHOLARSHIPS

The band boosters fundraise to assist with the purchase of new and the repair of existing instruments, the purchase and repair of uniforms, four one-time scholarships which are presented to four graduating HHS band seniors, and various other such support. In addition, we are currently one of the few schools in New Jersey who depends on their band booster organization to pay stipend support for professional marching band assistants to help prepare our marching band for shows and competitions. However, the Board appears to be moving to improve the Arts program in the school system, so we hope to soon begin to help gradually transition at least a portion of this stipend support to the Board of Education. As this occurs, the current booster leadership anticipates this money will be freed up to be used for other projects such as bringing in professional musicians for concerts, sponsoring festivals, and other projects which will help continue the expansion, growth, and improvement of the instrumental music program at HHS.

Our Booster Scholarship program is an area that we're proud of, but where we see significant need for financial improvement, and look to improve as it becomes un-necessary to pay band stipends. Each year, the Boosters provide $250.00 one-time scholarships to as many as four HHS Seniors who have been active in the instrumental music program, to assist them in continuing their education at a 2 or 4 year college. Plans are being formulated, in conjunction with the HHS Band Alumni, to make major improvements to the program, including increasing the scholarship amount. We work hard to perform ONLY the minimal fundraising needed in order to support these projects. Our annual TRICKY TRAY, which is held in late March, is our major fundraiser each year, and is backed up with smaller fundraisers such as our Tiger Gram sale during home football games, as needed. And of course you can become a "Friend of the Band" any time of the year, just follow the instructions at the top of the page.

STUDENT FUNDRAISING

Each year, our band students, through their participation in fundraisers organized by the band director and the boosters, such as car washes, candle sales, and coffee sales (for example), can raise money to be put into their individual student account. This money can then be used to help defray their portion of band camp or other music trips which might normally be costly for their family. Information on such fundraisers is always made available to them during band to be brought home, and is normally highlighted on the website as well.
